How did you achieve your success as one of Ascension Partner’s Top Performer?
It is definitely a combination of many factors. Firstly, and most importantly, the constant training provided by our director has given me the confidence that I am equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to present and propose the right financial/insurance products to my clients. Secondly, it’s about the fundamental discipline and hard work to provide first class service to my clients – the daily grit of ensuring that queries are answered, claims are done and all other loose admin ends are tied. Lastly, it is the trust that my clients have given me and correspondingly, my assurance to them that I will always be there for each and every one of my clients.
What motivated you to join this industry / stay on in this industry throughout the years?
The initial motivation to join this industry was monetary based as I felt that this was a business that rewards you according to the effort that you put in. However, what has kept me going is the joy of knowing that the plans that I have recommended to my clients have benefited them and their families. While it is always an unfortunate incident that leads to making a claim, I am still glad that I can assist them in making these claims and ensuring that their families do not have to worry about the monetary aspect of things. This reassures me that the plans I have put in place for my clients are working for them. It also brings me great joy when my clients come back to me for advice or recommend me to their loved ones.
What is the most challenging part/moment in your career and how did you overcome it?
This business is a challenging one in general. Throughout the years, there are many moments when I faced stress and rejections. However, I am blessed to be part of Ascension Partners, where there is strong social support from the mentors and team mates. Every one in the team is always willing to share and our team helps each other get back on track when any of us are feeling down. Our team spirit is always positive and we constantly learn from one another and motivate each other to greater heights.
How has this career changed your life?
For me, the highlights of this career are the company incentive trips where I get to travel to places that I have never dreamt of going, attend Gala dinners and meet like-minded individuals and colleagues to celebrate milestones in our careers.
This career has also made me a lot more aware of my personal finances. As a financial consultant, I need to practise what I preach. As such, after joining this industry, financial planning is in my blood and I am a lot more able to plan for my own savings, coverage, retirement plans and investments. This definitely brings me a lot of pride and joy.
