How did you achieve your success as one of Ascension Partner’s Top Performer?
By ensuring that I have good product knowledge and that I am updated on the industry. Knowledge provides confidence and power. Most important of all, by trusting God and following Him where He leads me.
What motivated you to join this industry / stay on in this industry throughout the years?
The main motivators to join this industry were flexible time and great products. I stayed on because I realised that this was my ministry. My work is my ministry. Despite the nobility of the insurance products, the industry, like many others, has a tendency to run mainly on numbers. If you run based on numbers, then you are merely doing a 100m dash. If you want to run a marathon, you need a passionate heart for people. This is a rewarding but tough industry. When one forgets that the heart is what matters, one will lose focus and not be able to last in this industry.
What is the most challenging part/moment in your career and how did you overcome it?
The most challenging part was being told how I should perform my work as my personality was not that of a typical salesperson. The most challenging moment was working despite being very ill. However, because of the flexibility of the job, I was able to work around the problem. Having an understanding manager was a great advantage too.
How has this career changed your life?
This career constantly challenged the boundaries I had erected to protect myself. By breaking down the walls that limit me, I am becoming the person I was created to be. It is not walls of awards that define a person, but daily choices to build one’s character. Reputation comes and goes, but character stays.
